What Are Modern Dentures?
Dentures are removable prosthetic devices that replace missing teeth and the surrounding tissue. Modern dentures are designed with precision materials and digital scanning to achieve a comfortable fit and a natural appearance.
At Smile Dentist, we offer four types of denture — each with distinct characteristics — so we can match the solution to your specific needs, lifestyle, and budget.
Natural Appearance
Teeth are shade-matched to your natural colour, and the gum base is hand-tinted to blend with your tissue.
Precision Fit
Multiple impressions and a try-in stage ensure the denture fits accurately and comfortably.
Multiple Options
From affordable acrylic to implant-retained solutions — we tailor the approach to your needs.
Your Denture Options
We offer four types of denture. Your dentist will help you decide which is most suitable.
Valplast (Flexible)
Material: Flexible, medical-grade nylon resin.
Benefits: Lightweight, flexible, and virtually unbreakable. No visible metal clasps — the hooks blend with your gum colour.
Best For: Partial dentures replacing 1 to 3 teeth where aesthetics are a priority.
Cobalt-Chrome
Material: Custom-cast cobalt-chrome metal framework with acrylic teeth.
Benefits: Thinner and stronger than acrylic. Often palate-free design for upper dentures, allowing better taste sensation.
Best For: Patients missing multiple teeth who want a strong, thin, comfortable denture.
Acrylic
Material: Gum-coloured acrylic (plastic) base with resin or ceramic teeth.
Benefits: The most affordable option. Easy to repair and adjust. A new tooth can be added if needed.
Best For: Full dentures, immediate dentures, or when budget is a primary consideration.
Implant-Retained
Concept: 2 to 4 dental implants are placed in the jaw. The denture has attachments that clip onto the implants.
Benefits: Significantly improved stability and chewing function. No adhesive needed. Helps preserve jawbone.
Best For: Patients who want denture security without the movement or looseness of conventional dentures.

Patient Experiences
Discreet Partial Denture
Concern: Patient had lost a visible tooth and was worried about a denture looking obvious.
Treatment: Valplast flexible partial denture with gum-coloured clasps.
Outcome: The patient found the denture comfortable and was pleased that the clasps were not visible when smiling.
Individual results may vary. A clinical assessment is required to determine suitability.
Palate-Free Comfort

Treatment: Cobalt-chrome denture with a palate-free design.
