What Are Pro-Aligners?
Pro-aligners are a series of custom-made, clear plastic trays that fit over your teeth to gradually move them into the desired position. Each set is worn for approximately 1–2 weeks before progressing to the next.
All treatment is planned using digital 3D scanning and supervised by your dentist with regular in-person check-ups.
Discreet
Clear plastic trays that are difficult to notice during conversation.
Removable
Take them out to eat, brush, and floss normally.
Digital Planning
3D intraoral scanning — no traditional putty impressions.
Clinically Supervised
Regular check-ups every 4–6 weeks at our practice.
The Treatment Process
Three stages from consultation to completion.
Digital Scan & Planning
We use a 3D intraoral scanner to create a detailed digital model of your teeth. This is used to plan your treatment and show you a simulation of the expected outcome.
Wearing Your Aligners
You wear each set of custom aligners for approximately 1–2 weeks, for around 22 hours per day. Each set applies gentle pressure to gradually move your teeth.
Monitoring & Retention
We monitor your progress every 4–6 weeks. Once treatment is complete, retainers are provided to help maintain your results long-term.
Aftercare & Retention
Retainers are essential to maintain your results.
Do
- Wear aligners for approximately 22 hours per day
- Clean aligners daily with lukewarm water and a soft brush
- Brush and floss teeth before reinserting aligners
- Wear retainers as instructed after treatment is complete
- Attend all scheduled monitoring appointments
Avoid
- ✕ Eating or drinking (other than cool water) with aligners in
- ✕ Hot drinks with aligners in (can warp the plastic)
- ✕ Skipping aligners for extended periods (can slow progress)
- ✕ Cleaning aligners with hot water or abrasive products
- ✕ Stopping retainer use without consulting your dentist

Risks & Considerations
Important information to consider before treatment.
Compliance Required
Aligners must be worn ~22 hours daily. Non-compliance can delay treatment or affect outcomes.
Discomfort
Some pressure and mild discomfort is normal with each new aligner, usually resolving within 1–2 days.
Limitations
Not suitable for all orthodontic cases. Severe malocclusion may require alternative treatment approaches.
Relapse Risk
Teeth may move back without long-term retainer wear. Retention is a lifelong commitment.
Why Clinical Supervision Matters
The importance of in-person dental oversight during orthodontic treatment.
Dental Health Monitoring
Moving teeth involves bone remodelling. We monitor gum health and tooth roots via X-rays throughout treatment.
IPR When Needed
Interproximal reduction creates small spaces (0.2mm) to help unravel crowded teeth safely. This requires in-person dental care.
Attachments
Tooth-coloured composite "buttons" help aligners grip teeth for more complex movements. These are placed and removed in the practice.

Members receive 50% off all treatment fees. A written treatment plan with full costs is provided before treatment begins.

Patient Experiences
Addressing Crowding
A patient with mild crowding in the lower arch completed a course of Pro-aligners over 5 months. Following treatment, fixed and removable retainers were fitted to help maintain the result.
Individual results may vary. Treatment duration depends on the complexity of the case.
Relapse Correction
A patient who had orthodontic treatment as a teenager experienced relapse after not wearing retainers. Pro-aligners were used to re-align the teeth over 4 months, with bonded retainers placed to help maintain the correction.
Individual results may vary. Retainer wear is essential for long-term stability.
