Compare Your Denture Options

Each denture type has different clinical strengths. Your dentist will recommend the most appropriate option for your individual situation after a clinical assessment.

Acrylic Partial Denture

£795

A custom acrylic-based denture that replaces several missing teeth and clips to natural teeth with small clasps.

Often suited to: Replacing one or several missing teeth, transitional dentures while planning further treatment, and patients seeking a more affordable removable option.

Considerations: Slightly thicker than metal-framework partials; relies on the gum and adjacent teeth for support. Teeth can usually be added in the future if you lose further teeth.

Valplast / Flexi Denture

£895

A metal-free, flexible nylon denture with gum-coloured clasps that blend with the surrounding tissue.

Often suited to: Patients who prefer not to have visible metal clasps, sensitivities to acrylic monomer, and front-tooth replacement where appearance is important.

Considerations: Cannot easily be relined or have teeth added later in the same way as acrylic; less rigid than cobalt-chrome. Not suitable in every clinical situation — your dentist will advise.

Cobalt-Chrome Denture

£1,395

A slim, strong cobalt-chrome metal-framework partial denture that uses tooth-borne support and precision clasps.

Often suited to: Patients wanting the most rigid, retentive and durable partial denture, and cases where tooth-borne support is preferred over gum-borne support.

Considerations: Small metal clasps may be visible on some teeth depending on smile line. Most appropriate where there are healthy natural teeth to support the framework.

Full Acrylic Denture (per arch)

£1,095

A complete upper or lower denture replacing all teeth in one arch, made from medical-grade acrylic with high-quality denture teeth.

Often suited to: Patients who have lost (or are losing) all teeth in an arch and prefer a removable solution. Available as a conventional or immediate denture.

Considerations: Lower full dentures are usually less stable than upper full dentures because there is less gum/bone area for support; implant-retention may be considered for improved stability.

The right choice depends on a clinical and radiographic assessment by your dentist. The options above describe typical clinical use; individual suitability is decided in consultation with you.

What's Included in the Denture Fee

Every denture is custom-made by a UK dental laboratory and fitted by a GDC-registered dentist. Examinations and x-rays are charged separately.

Primary impressions

Initial impressions of the upper and/or lower jaws so the laboratory can make a custom impression tray.

Secondary impressions & bite registration

Precise final impressions on a custom tray, together with bite records so the laboratory can set the upper and lower teeth correctly.

Shade & tooth selection

In natural light, we agree the shade, shape and size of the denture teeth together to suit your facial aesthetics and personal preference.

Wax try-in

You see and approve the position, shade and lip support of the teeth in wax before the final denture is processed.

Fitting & bite adjustment

The finished denture is fitted, the bite is carefully checked and adjusted, and any pressure points on the gum are eased.

Aftercare & follow-up

Written aftercare and cleaning instructions are provided, with a short review where clinically appropriate to make any small adjustments.

What to expect

Your Denture Treatment Journey

A conventional denture is usually completed across four to five appointments over 6–10 weeks. The steps below describe a typical journey; your dentist will give you a personalised plan after assessment.

Visit 1

1.Consultation & written treatment plan

Clinical and radiographic assessment, discussion of the realistic options (acrylic, Valplast/Flexi, cobalt-chrome, full or partial, implant-retained where suitable), and a written, itemised treatment plan for your approval before treatment begins.

Visit 2

2.Primary impressions

Initial impressions of the upper and/or lower jaws are taken so the laboratory can make a custom impression tray for the next visit.

Visit 3

3.Secondary impressions & bite registration

Precise final impressions are taken using the custom tray, together with bite records so the laboratory can set the upper and lower teeth in correct relation to each other.

Visit 4

4.Tooth try-in

A wax try-in of your denture is fitted so you can see and approve the shade, shape and position of the teeth, and the lip and cheek support, before the final denture is finished.

Visit 5

5.Fitting your denture

The finished denture is fitted, bite is checked and adjusted as needed, written aftercare instructions are provided, and a short review is included where clinically appropriate.

Dentures are often recommended for

  • Replacing several missing teeth in a removable, more affordable way
  • Patients for whom dental implants are not currently suitable (clinical or financial reasons)
  • Transitional / immediate dentures after extractions while planning longer-term treatment
  • Improved chewing, speech and facial support after multiple tooth loss
  • Restoring a complete upper or lower arch where all teeth have been lost

A denture may not be the best option when

  • Only one or two teeth are missing and a bridge or implant may be more comfortable and stable
  • Active decay or gum disease is present — these are treated first
  • You strongly prefer a fixed, non-removable replacement and are suitable for implants
  • The remaining teeth or gums are not currently in a healthy enough condition to support a denture — preparatory treatment may be needed
  • A flexible (Valplast) denture is being considered but the clinical situation is not appropriate — your dentist will advise

The right choice depends on a clinical and radiographic assessment by your dentist, who will explain the realistic options for your individual situation before any treatment is agreed.
